The first option is by using a keyword, or Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) number, or funding opportunity number. These numbers give information on specific grants.

Second way of searching is done based on the 21 different categories like health, environment, employment, arts, and others.

The third way of doing a search is by using the agency numbers.  There are 40 different agencies with unique agency numbers.

Last search option is the advanced search option that is done by using combination of a keyword and the days since posted, category, eligibility, agency and more. You will receive the details of a particular grant by email if the opportunity number is posted.

You need to download the grant application and apply for grant that you downloaded using the CFDA or Funding Opportunity number.  Ensure that the application is complete in all respect.

As a next step you need to register with Grants.gov account and obtain the approval for submitting the application form. It can be used to check the status of the application that you have submitted using the username and password that you entered while registering in the web site.
